Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of huntdowns.com and the services provided by Hunt Down We Read ("HDWR", "we", "us", "our"). By using the website, creating an account, participating in a challenge, or purchasing an author package, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who may use HDWR

You must be able to form a binding agreement in your jurisdiction to use paid services. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit and for keeping your account credentials secure.

2. Community participation

Participation in discussions, challenges, awards, and events is subject to our Code of Conduct. We may remove content or restrict participation where these standards are not met.

3. Author packages

HDWR offers Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby author packages. Each package is a one-off author membership per book, not an annual reader subscription. The deliverables and visibility window for each package are described on the Author Packages page and form part of these Terms.

4. What author packages do not buy

Payment for an author package does not purchase a favourable review, rating, award, or predetermined reader response. Readers remain free to express their genuine opinions. HDWR does not sell positive opinions.

5. Editorial discretion

We may decline or discontinue a submission where a book is unlawful, plagiarised, misrepresented, or incompatible with the community. Where we decline before work begins, we will discuss an appropriate resolution, including a refund where applicable.

6. Scheduling

Reading windows, discussion schedules, and Q&A sessions are planned in advance and may occasionally be rescheduled. Where a scheduled element must move, we will notify the author and agree a replacement date where reasonably possible.

7. Author materials and permissions

By submitting a book, cover art, author photograph, biography, or other material, you confirm that you hold the necessary rights and grant HDWR permission to display and promote those materials as part of the service you have purchased.

8. Payments

Prices are shown in US dollars unless stated otherwise. Online payments for author packages and donations are currently unavailable on the website. HDWR does not ask customers to send payment card details, CVV, PIN, OTP, or banking passwords through email, social media, or chat.

9. Refunds and cancellation

Refunds and cancellations are governed by our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

10. Accounts

You are responsible for activity under your account. Do not share credentials, impersonate another person, or attempt unauthorized access to another member's account.

11. Prohibited activity

• Harassment, threats, or hate speech
• Fraud or payment manipulation
• Vote buying, vote selling, or fake accounts
• Spam and unauthorized promotion
• Publishing another person's private information
• Attempts to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the service

12. Community awards

Awards are subject to eligibility rules and community voting or moderation procedures. HDWR does not guarantee that a particular author, book, or reader will receive an award. We may investigate suspicious voting activity and take reasonable action where manipulation is suspected.

13. Community donations

Hunt Down We Read may accept voluntary contributions from individuals who wish to support the development and continued operation of the HDWR community.

Donations are separate from our paid author packages.

A donation does not:

• Purchase an author package
• Guarantee book promotion
• Guarantee inclusion in a reading challenge
• Guarantee a review
• Guarantee an award
• Guarantee a particular reader response
• Guarantee placement on the website
• Guarantee an author feature
• Give the donor special voting rights
• Give the donor ownership or control of HDWR

Donations are currently unavailable online. If donation options reopen, the website will state the available contribution choices clearly.

14. Reviews and user content

You remain responsible for content you publish. By posting content to HDWR you represent that you have the right to publish it, that it does not unlawfully infringe another person's rights, that it is not intentionally fraudulent, and that it does not contain prohibited content. You grant HDWR a non-exclusive permission to display and operate the content as part of the service.

15. Website availability

We aim to keep HDWR available and functional, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. The website may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, hosting problems, security incidents, third-party service interruptions, or events beyond our reasonable control.

16. Third-party services

HDWR may link to or use third-party services. We are not responsible for the independent policies, availability, or practices of third-party websites and services.

17. Intellectual property

The HDWR website, branding, logo, original text, graphics, and other materials created by HDWR remain the property of HDWR or its licensors unless otherwise stated. You may not reproduce or commercially exploit HDWR materials without appropriate permission.

18. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe a user has violated these Terms or the Code of Conduct, engaged in fraud, threatened the safety of others, attempted unauthorized access, abused the service, or created significant risk to HDWR or its users.

19. Disclaimer

HDWR provides its services on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee:

• Book sales
• Revenue
• Positive reviews
• Specific audience numbers
• Award outcomes
• Search rankings
• Social media reach
• Commercial success

Author and reader outcomes may vary.

20. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, HDWR will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded.

21. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
