Hunt Down We Read.
A global literary community for readers who believe books are meant to be experienced, questioned, discussed, and remembered.
Hunt Down We Read (HDWR) is a literary community built for people who want more from reading than simply finishing another book. We bring readers together around books that have something to say - books that challenge assumptions, open difficult conversations, introduce unfamiliar perspectives, and sometimes change the way we understand ourselves and the world around us.
Our approach is simple: don't just read it. Hunt it down. Look deeper. Ask better questions. Follow the ideas. Challenge your assumptions. Talk about what you discover. Because the most valuable part of a book is not always found on the page at first glance.
Why HDWR exists.
Our mission is to create a meaningful reading environment where books become the beginning of conversations rather than the end of them. We help readers discover thoughtfully selected books, read them with structure and purpose, discuss them with other readers, and reflect on what the experience reveals.
We believe reading can develop critical thinking, empathy, curiosity, discipline, communication, perspective, and personal growth. We are not trying to build the biggest reading community for the sake of numbers. We are building a community where attention matters.
Reading does not have to be passive.
Many people finish a book and immediately move on to the next one. At HDWR we slow that process down. A book becomes more valuable when readers can ask:
- What is the author really saying?
- What assumptions are being challenged?
- What did I miss?
- What do other readers see differently?
- What does this reveal about people, society, history, or ourselves?
That is why our reading challenges are structured around shared reading, discussion, and reflection.
Six stages, every challenge.
We introduce readers to books selected for their ability to create meaningful reading experiences.
Members read together according to a structured challenge schedule.
Readers take part in focused discussions built around chapters, themes, ideas, and the questions a book raises.
Authors may interact directly with readers through Q&A sessions and other community experiences.
Readers share their genuine thoughts and reactions, not performance reviews.
Outstanding books, authors, and contributions may receive recognition through our community awards.
Reading, made intentional.
You do not have to be an academic. You do not have to read hundreds of books every year. You do not have to agree with everyone. You simply need to be willing to read carefully, think honestly, and participate respectfully.
Whether a book confirms something you already believe or completely changes your perspective, there is value in engaging with it thoughtfully.

Authors are an important part of the HDWR ecosystem. Our author programmes are designed to create opportunities for books to be discovered, read, discussed, and remembered. Depending on the selected programme, authors may receive:
- Featured book placement
- Author profile features
- Community reading challenges
- Structured chapter discussions
- Genuine reader feedback
- Author Q&A sessions
- Editorial features
- Community recognition and long-term archive visibility
However, HDWR does not sell positive opinions. Payment for an author package does not purchase a favourable review, rating, award, or predetermined reader response. Readers remain free to express their genuine opinions.

Every book does not need to be read the same way. Some books should challenge you. Some should teach you. Some should make you uncomfortable. Some should entertain you. Some should make you question what you thought you knew. The important thing is that you engage with intention.
What we hold in common.
We approach books with attention rather than simply trying to increase a reading count.
We welcome different interpretations and perspectives, including ones that unsettle us.
Disagreement is part of a healthy literary community. Personal attacks are not.
A different interpretation is an opportunity to learn, not something to defeat.
We discuss books honestly while recognizing the effort behind writing them.
Reading develops empathy, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of people.
What we can and cannot promise.
We cannot promise that every book will change your life, that every discussion will change your opinion, or that every reader will agree. But we can work to create a place where books are taken seriously, readers are treated respectfully, authors are given meaningful opportunities, and honest conversation is encouraged.
Don't just read it. Hunt it down.
